COMMUNITY RECOMMENDED EDUCATION FOR TYPE 2 DIABETES.
People with diabetes spend only three hours a year with a healthcare professional on average. For the remaining 8,757 hours they manage their diabetes themselves.
Managing diabetes well is challenging and demands constant commitment, therefore supporting people to develop these skills and confidence to manage their condition, is crucial to living well with diabetes.
Diabetes education is key to successful day-to-day diabetes management and can be life-changing for people with diabetes.
Our course usually runs over 2 days on 2 consecutive weeks with each session lasting 2.5 hours.
CREDIT aims to empower patients to make decisions about their day to day management of their diabetes whether they are diet, tablet or insulin controlled. The course is informal allowing patients to share their experiences and to gain knowledge from different Health Care Professionals.
Whether people are recently diagnosed or have had Type 2 Diabetes for many years this course gives a fresh new approach on how to manage their diabetes.
Due to the small size of the group the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed which allows for everyone to be involved in discussions.
The course is run locally in Braintree, Maldon, Witham, Chelmsford and Halstead.
