Dementia-friendly cinema – Halstead

The Empire Theatre in Halstead is running its Dementia Friendly Cinema that aims to help reconnect memories.

The screenings are free entry, free film, free tea, coffee, biscuits and cake.


Doors open at 1.45pm for a meet and greet before the film, with the film starting at 2.30pm.

  • Thursday 13th February 2020  – 42nd Street (released in 2019)
    Screening of the West End production set in the 1930s about an aspiring Broadway star
  • Thursday 12th March 2020 – Downton Abbey (released in 2019)
    Feature length film of the popular ITV drama series set in the early 20th Century following a family called The Crawleys and their estate.
  • Thursday 9th April 2020 – Blinded by the Light (released in 2019)
    British comedy-drama film directed by Gurinder Chadha, inspired by the life of journalist Sarfraz Manzoor and his love of the works of Bruce Springsteen.
  • Thursday 14th May 2020 – Dumbo (released in 2019)
    Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears.
