RE: Generation is a dance and movement programme for the over 50s which aims to engage and inspire older communities. The classes offer movement and dance whilst sharing the importance of its effects on brain and body; to mobilise, stimulate, coordinate and above all keep the body moving.
The participants learn about the importance of movement and dance in older age and its effects on brain and body, as well as been guided in how to adapt material for their varying physical abilities. Participants experience and explore a broad range of creative ideas as a stimulus for dance and movement, and develop their memory for movement by learning set material, often performed in unison. They also utilise a range of props to enhance their experiences and give added creative opportunity and visual interest.
