There are hundreds of volunteering opportunities in your area. Most districts have a dedicated volunteer centre,the place to go to discover the majority of local volunteer opportunities. If you’re an organisation who would like to involve volunteers in your work, the volunteer centre will put you in touch with appropriate people.

Volunteer Essex

Volunteer Essex connects volunteers with charities looking for help. They host events which provide information about volunteering, and have a number of volunteer centres across Essex.

Knit to nurture

Make a difference to your local community by knitting for charitable causes. Join the Knit to Nurture network in Hockley and Rayleigh.

Volunteer with the Men’s sheds

It is a community space for men to get together and take part in practical activities such as woodworking, crafts and gardening. A larger version of the typical men’s garden shed , they offer:

  • a space for people to learn new skill and share existing ones
  •  make new friends over a shared interest, with a welcoming community feel

Becoming a Shedder is an opportunity to get involved with your local community, getting involved in shared and community projects and offering an opportunity to share skills, knowledge and friendship with others.

Elbow Grease in Harlow

Elbow Grease is a small co-operative based in Harlow which is run by a team of adults with learning disabilities. This team are supported to volunteer and provide services to other vulnerable people living in the community, as well as local charities.
